Ranbir-Deepika
Destiny has given a second chance to Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone to reconcile and re-build their broken relationship. But, as it is said, one got to sacrifice a lot in love, so did happen with Ranbir and Dippy. Ex-lovers Ranbir and Deepika had buried the hatchet long back. Keeping in mind the tag of professionalism, the ex-couple will be seen again together in Ayan Mukherjee’s upcoming film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. While both the actors were shooting happily in Manali for the film, Deepika had to leave Ranbir and fly to Kerala in order to shoot for Rajinikanth’s movie Kochadaiyaan. The Kochadaiyaan team is currently shooting in Trivandrum, whereas Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is progressing in Manali. So, Dippy is squeezing her dates to accommodate Kochadaiyaan, she is now busy shuttling between Manali and Kerala for her films. Bad luck for Ranbir and Deepika!

makes me want to see the movie. Release date: May 18th

not only will we get two sizzling hot and brand new Bollywood stars, aka Arjun Kapoor and Parineeta Chopra, latter is  Priyanka’s cousin, the film is written and directed by Faisal Habib who brought us the endearing movie Do Dooni Char.

trailer:

Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, where did it go?

I feel like a hungry patron in a restaurant. My mouth has been salivating for Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, or, being vegetarian, for Kunal Kapoor, but I am waiting and waiting and now I started calling out on the waiter HEY, WHERE IS MY CHICKEN?

– the Kashy with  writer Sameer Sharma (? I think…)

I am getting impatient, start cursing the restaurant already, which, as a pacifist, is running entirely against my nature. Throwing up my hands in despair when checking out bollywoodhungama.com and staring at the 18th of May void, which I vaguely remembered as a possible release date.  Nothing in the vicinity either!!?

What happened, did Luv shuv Tey Chicken Khurana get sucked into a Black Hole?  surfing deeper into the Net I discover it has been P-P-P-ostponed because of the IPL.   IPL? I start hating cricket.  I am shattered, it feels like a chicken bone got stuck in my esophagus. I want to cry me some crocodile tears. How did the chicken cross the road? well, it didn’t. And it won’t for a long time. Until a suitable deemable esteemable date is found for the release of this recipe..says Anurag Kashyap, or rather a UTV spokesman.

As if (the probably gory) Department by RGV, which releases on May 18th,  could be a threat to a funny lovable movie….

In short, I am disappointed.

But I am not alone. Kunal, meri jaan, most likely too.

…and a bunch of foodie movie lovers….

UPDATE: HURRAY, CHICKEN IS BACK ON TRACK with a trailer AND a release date:

NOVEMBER 2nd. 2012 yea….. :-)

Ok, we won’t call you Ram Charan Teja…

but OMBhagvan, you are a HOTTIE, Ram Charan! So, Ram Charan is asking his fans and the press not to call him Ram Charan Teja. We politely comply with the request.

Ram Charan @Alwayscharan

My dad named me ram charan not ram charan teja.so i feel good wen people call me just”ram charan”I also request the media to note this.

In the country of numerology, some say that hopefully it won’t have a negative impact on his stardom trajectory which started blossoming in 2007 when the Chennai-born Ram Charan (b.1985) made his debut as the lead in the movie Chirutha, which earned him a Filmfare award for Best South Debutant Award.

My psychic fingers are tingling. I smell a big Telegu/Bollywood crossover here, which is as big as an Australian or British actor making it big in Hollywood.

Ram Charan was born into an illustrious filmi family. Son of the huge Telegu star Chiranjeevi. From Grandpa to uncles everyone in his family was involved in film and entertainment. So it probably didn’t surprise anyone that he would follow into filmi footsteps, but as I always say, that’s not enough to make it.

His next movie, Magadheera became a blockbuster and garnered him another Filmfare award

His subsequent film Orange wasn’t as grand of a success but his performance was lauded.

His next and the last movie he made became again a super-hit: Rachcha.

looks great, hai na? He has covered magazines, appeared in Pepsi, Airtel, and regional Tata DoCoMo ads. And he owns a Polo team. How cool is that?

What’s most interesting to Bollywood fans is what’s coming next! He will be in the remake of  legendary Amitabh Bachchan’s movie Zanjeer, next to Mahie Gill and Arjun Rampal. Should that tank, which we hope it won’t, we’ll know it’s because he dropped the Teja out of his name. But then he could  just re-instate it :-)

Good Luck, Ram Charan! – in Bollywood & Tollywood and everywhere in between!

John Abraham’s gutsy choices

After hitting jackpot as a producer with Vicky Donor it looks as if John Abraham is going to surprise us next taking on directing. This will be really interesting because John seems to like challenging the norm. As an actor he took quite a few risks, which I love about him.

Just think about the deeply dark movie No Smoking. If that wasn’t gutsy, what is!? :-)  The first totally surreal Indian film I have ever seen.

Water, another brave topic. Deepa Mehta’s brilliant movie about a child widow

In Jhoota Hi Sahi he took a chance playing the love interest of an entirely unknown actress, Pakhi Tyrevala, the wife of the director Abbas Tyrevala.  for an actor of his stature that was taking a risk.

7 Khoon Maaf, alongside Priyanka Chopra, another unusual role for a ‘leading’ man. In this case one out of seven…

.

In Dostana  he pretends to be a homosexual, another tabu topic in India.

Aashayein, a movie about a man who has 90 days to live, another smart but surprising choice of film

John chooses roles wisely mixing commercial cinema, Dhoom,  Housefull, Desi Boyz, etc.,  with offbeat movies and challenging topics.

In taking on sperm donation in the first movie he produces, he again proves to be a risk taker. I like that about him. I’ll be looking forward to his debut as director.

RGV’s “Not A Love Story” and not a fairy tale..

Ram Gopal Varmas grisly tale Not A Love Story is  based on the 2008 Neeraj Grover murder case, in which an aspiring actress and her fiance were found guilty of a heinous crime.

RGV tells the story without pathos. He is using unusual camera angles, a bit too many of them, but I liked the camera work, it draws you into the frenzy of a crime of passion. I can only imagine how a situation like that will distort your mind, your perceptions, your whole being. It feels unreal. You are all for sudden experience a nightmare you can’t wake up from. In that sense the camera work suits the film perfectly.

Good cast.

Horror or comedy, but both?

OneIndia is reporting that Salman is planning a horror comedy.  A horrormedy. I don’t know if I like the mixing of these two genres. It could be an interesting experiment though, which can be either brilliant or catastrophically bad. Which one is to be seen.

Salman hasn’t fully committed yet it appears since he’s busy making a Dabangg sequel.I don’t like sequels either.  A sequel is when someone runs out of good ideas. Bollywood is buzzing these days with sequels. So is Hollywood. Come on, guys!! Is it that hard to come up with a good script?  Maybe Sohail’s horror comedy isn’t such a bad idea, afterall…

even though “when the time is right” is a very gooey term. Maybe by then they will decide if it’s going to be a comedy or a horror movie?

Salman Khan turns to horror

Wednesday, April 18, 2012, 13:07 [IST]

Salman Khan

It has been confirmed that Salman Khan will work with brother Sohail Khan in a horror comedy.

Sohail Khan and Salman Khan did many films together in the past. Infact, Sohail Khan started his directing career with the action thriller Auzaar which starred Salman Khan. He then directed both of his brother (Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan) in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya and Hello Brother.

Salman Khan told a leading website that he is doing a horror comedy film with brother Sohail Khan and he will make the formal announcement when the time is right. Salman also said that right now he just wants to concentrate on Dabangg 2.

Dabangg 2 directed by Arbaaz Khan, stars Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in the main lead.

Priyanka in multiples – again

Any actor is aware of the danger of being typecast. For some actors it’s the kiss of death. Some survive it. Some make a decent living out of the character they created, like Johnny Lever for instance. Some must be really annoyed at the end of their careers..   ( maybe Johnny Lever?)
It’s an interesting phenomenon when you think about it. Typecasting is not just fault of the film industry but also of the audience who likes to see their hero or heroine in a particular way. And actors themselves have strengths and weaknesses. For instance it’s hard to find a good villain or good comedian so once you prove you can pull it off realistically naturally you will be approached over and over to play that particular role in variations.
But I have never heard of someone who was typecast into playing multiple characters until Priyanka came along :-) that’s a new one.
After seeing her in the  “What’s Your Rashee?”  I was weary of seeing her in another film with costume changes  and I by-passed  “7 Khoon Maf” until it came out on DVD. I liked that one so much better.
To hear that she has been cast again in a movie where she plays 3 different roles makes me laugh. I’ll go along with it, since Bollywood seems to have a fascination with those multiple roles, there is no hope for a hardcore Bollywood fan to get away from it.
Most of the time I find these type of roles just silly, merely costume changes that actually undermine the actor’s integrity.  The worst example that comes to my mind is “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”  where they made poor Shahrukh look absolutely ridiculous in his nerdy and ‘supercool’  avatar.

Priyanka Chopra’s sense of humour leaves Kunal Kohli speechless!

Actress Priyanka Chopra is quite well-known in the industry for her jovial and lively nature. But, many of us are actually unaware of PC’s humorous side.  Reportedly, Priyanka’s hidden sense of humour left filmmaker Kunal Kohli speechless.

Reportedly, when Kunal Kohli approached Priyanka for Teri Meri Kahaani, saying that she has to play three different characters in it, a jovial PC responded, “Why not more?” Priyanka explained the reason behind her urge to play multiple characters in the movie.

A leading daily informed that PC told Kohli since she played 12 different roles in What’s your Rashee? and killed 7 of her husbands in Saat Khoon Maaf, she wished the director could have come up with more than three characters for her in Teri Meri Kahaani. Priyanka’s lovely sense of humour left back Kohli with no words.

John Abraham turning producer with Vicky Donor

Vicky Donor is getting a lot of buzz these days. Sperm donation, that’s something which hasn’t been discussed much publicly in India, perhaps here and there behind closed doors. It’s a smart move on John’s part to take a novel topic for his first venture in production.
At this stage of his life it’s a great idea to become a producer, doors are already wide open. I guess it could be also somewhat risky when you don’t have much experience yet, but that wouldn’t deter our Johnny, would it. All I can say is though, I wish he had been acting himself in this movie, such a fantastic topic. I wonder why he didn’t.
but let’s wish him good luck with his first movie. I hope it will get here to the US, which is still to be seen….but since Johnny’s name is crowning the movie, I let myself be surprised.
John Abraham wants to follow Aamir’s footsteps

Bollywood’s muscular hunk John Abraham has just turned producer and he seems very excited about the potential that this venture of his holds. ‘Vicky Donor’ has created quite a buzz in the country with its bold subject and the innovative manner in which it is being marketed. The movie has been produced by John Abraham under his banner ‘JA Entertainment’. The actor is pretty confident about his production debut, but still feels that he needs grooming in the department. Hence, John has said that he would want to follow the Aamir, Farhan model in going about his work.

Ayushmann Khurrana, the lead actor of ‘Vicky Donor’, had recently come to Dailybhaskar’s Mumbai office and had said that John is a very generous producer. Rather he was more like an elder brother on the sets. Well, John would be very happy to hear that his ‘employees’ have good things to say about him, which does not really happen very often. John has reportedly said recently that even though he might have turned producer but he admits that he does have a total grasp on cinema. He further said that he wants to follow Aamir Khan and Farhan Akhtar because they are brilliant producers.

Well, John, with your name backing a project, we are sure that a host of women would certainly crowd the cinema halls.

postscript: I am glad he didn’t snatch the lead. Ayushman Khurana was brilliant in the role!!!

a great movie!!!
