Srk’s bundle of joy, AbRam.

Amidst all the noise that has been going around, the sweetest is the one made by our new-born baby, AbRam.

He was born prematurely by several months but has finally come home.

Gauri and our whole family have been dealing with his health issues for a long time now.

As a family our silence on this subject has been because of the personal nature of emotional strife that we have been going through due to his health.

We wish to make a special mention and thank Dr. Jatin Shah for his expertise and contribution. We also wish to thank all the other doctors, nurses and medical staff who have made his life possible. As trying were the times, we never lost hope that life always brings with it.

Just to put the record straight there was no sex determination for our child. The baby was born much before the speculations of ‘sex determination’ and other ‘issues’ pertaining to the same were being raised in the media by some organisations.

Suffice to say his coming home puts to rest completely false and at times insensitive claims of sex determination and alleged illegalities.

We also apologise to all those other doctors and hospitals who had to face unwanted scrutiny and questioning by some parties.

Our son is a surrogate baby and the entire process is bound by strict confidentiality. We would appeal to all, to allow us to cherish this private moment as a family.

It seems unfortunate that I have to explain/clarify so many aspects for our new-born baby. Wish it were just a simple message of happiness on behalf of the family.

They say a baby is God’s opinion that the world should go on. Post this statement, I hope we all move on too.

I have been too busy apparently watching the movies  to keep check on sensational Bollywood news, such as this. Shahrukh and Gauri welcoming a surrogate baby.

When did THAT happen? how? is the birth mother related to either of them? did they have to shop for a surrogate? is the baby half Srk’s or half Gauri’s? Where have I been, on Mars?

However that may be, I understand the longing for a baby when you start hitting middle age. Young children keep you young in spirit, mind and physically fit (running after them 24/7) Babies rock. They are symbols of hope, of future, testaments of love, sharing, giving.

Mubarak to Shahrukh and Gauri, welcoming baby joy AbRam after much worries into their home and hearts. At the end of the day all DNA questions are irrelevant. A new life emerged and a boy is going to be loved and cherished in one of India’s most illustrious families. May AbRam grow up healthy and happy! The road ahead of him is already shining in the limelight.

And the kids must be ecstatic too.

Awesome trailer of Chennai Express

I thought I had worked through my long-standing obsession with Shahrukh Khan, but watching the trailer of Chennai Express, the flame rekindled.

I remembered all for sudden that I heard he got injured on the set. Poor Srk. He has been always taking risks and paid for some of them dearly. For some reason I always worry when athletes or movie stars get injured. They often get pumped up with highly addictive painkillers, just to finish the movie, the run, the challenge…

Baby on board of Chennai Express

I heard that Srk will also get a baby delivered via Express. A good summer for him and Gauri, who, I bet, has forgotten by now how to change diapers. But luckily that’s like riding a bicycle, the knew-how memory comes right back to you.

the looooong-awaited screen kiss

The Kiss

The Kiss

How many years,  DECADES,  have we waited for Srk’s first kiss? on screen, okay…. As for me,  since Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

After watching Jab Tak Hai Jaan  I have to say… too little too late, because for so many years he has been avoiding the kiss and alone the subject of it that, I think, we all made our peace with the hero who never kisses. Now, in a moment of midlife crisis, obviously,  Shahrukh plants one on Katrina Kaif. And guess what, the chemistry between these two wasn’t right. It’s not the longing and romantic, heart-throbbing kiss, it’s just  “a kiss” – with no attachments. No tingling in the air.  He basically sacrificed this last bastion of privacy for no good reason. I almost feel bad for him. check it out. He looks MISERABLE.

Probably it was Yash Raj’s idea, bad idea. And we can’t blame him..Anymore anyway. The kiss was supposed to be the dot of the i in his prolific and exciting career as filmmaker and producer. It hasn’t worked out as he had planned. Nothing in life ever does.  Right now he is probably up there in heaven, scratching his head, thinking to himself ‘ I had planned that so well and look how underwhelmed every one is with these lukewarm kissing scenes’…

Yeah, Yash. C’est la vie. We know how that goes with things we await so anxiously for so long…they always have a way of letting us down.

Shahrukh Khan ‘funambules’ through US immigration

On behalf of my country I want to apologize to Shahrukh  for the inappropriate behavior of these  immigration officers for making his life miserable for a second time in a row.

I understand if he never wants to come back here and that’s the worst possible outcome for his fans in the US and for Bollywood. It’s leaving a shameful mark and will make other stars weary.

I commend him for honoring his engagement at Yale University after this un-welcome ceremony. Very different from how VIPs are treated in India, btw…

I understand the importance of national security but I don’t understand what happened there at Immigration! Shahrukh has been in and out of this country for YEARS! how can they still detain him, scrutinize his papers?  I am sure Srk was able to provide the paperwork proving his speaking engagement at Yale. Couldn’t they make a simple phone call? especially after this fiasco a few years back. Certainly the US immigration computers will spit out the history with this global  traveler.

Having said that, immigration officers here and abroad are a pain in the neck on average. They are taught to assume the worst, I guess. I can still understand that one needs to be cautious as a rule of thumb, but for heavens sake,  MAKE THE TRAVELER feel welcome! Be polite, offer them comfort while you check out with the authorities with whom you are dealing with.

I had similarily bad experiences here in America before I got my citizenship. Israel, Italy and India’s officers aren’t much nicer either, truth be told, whenever they suspect anything fishy. So maybe 5% of travelers have something to hide, but 95% of travelers are clean, if not more! Immigration and custom officers treat everyone like suspects, criminals, especially foreigners. During their training as immigration officers they ALL should be taught manners, regardless with whom they are dealing with…they are so rude in general! You can do this job respectfully and honorably just as effectively.

If you are alerted to a VIP coming into the country, which I am sure Srk’s entourage did, be cordial. Immigration is the visit card of a country. A traveler is excited to be visiting a place other than home, excited to be there. If you are treated disrespectfully in the first five minutes you don’t want to conduct any business there anymore. I know a few who despise the country based on their first encounter with Immigration services! And this needs to change! I am not saying rice and flowers… but just manners, please. Show some respect.

RGV got out of bed on his left foot. Again.

I can’t help it but  i get the impression RGV  has a shot too much to drink kabhi kabhi, then gets the overwhelming desire to check out twitter…and the rest is history.  cuz the things he says at times….. tztzzz :-) either that or he really likes to provoke people. He is so fantastically gifted and makes great films but why does he have to say such nasty things? I wonder if he is just such an unhappy and bitter human being. Hey, RGV kya hua? got out of bed on your left foot today?

when you follow him on twitter he makes you laugh and cry at the same time…he’s so funny at times but some insult is always lurking around the corner.

Chill, RGV, play nice!

RGV insults SRK and his children

By: Bollywood Mantra Staff on 22nd March 2012

Ram Gopal Varma at Shiva - Press Conference

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma who is known for his daring statement has remarked badly about Shahrukh Khan and his children. Shahrukh who is known as a doting father in the industry has been targeted by Ram Gopal Varma. SRK’s love for Aryan and Suhana is known to all. Despite hectic schedule, he makes sure that he fulfills all the responsibility of a father.

SRK is a cool dad and his love for his kids is not hidden to anyone but RGV seems not happy with the superstar. Targeting SRK, he tweeted, “If all children are so innocent nd have beautiful hearts how come most of them grow up to become bastards?” RGV wrote this on twitter after Shahrukh posted, “Missing my lil boy and girl….they have such small lovely hands….and such large beautiful hearts (sic).”

This is not the first time that RGV has badly commented about any star. It has become his habit. If any film dismal badly at the box-office, he is sure to pass out humiliating remarks.

If one recall when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s pregnancy was declared, he remarked, ‘I hate beautiful woman getting pregnant’.

This time Ram Gopal Varma has targeted Shahrukh Khan’s kids and sure SRK will not leave the filmmaker at any cost. Let’s wait and see how SRK counter attack the filmmaker.

Silly Sallu

A rupee is not what is used to be.  Or is it?

Oh please, guys, give us a break! :-)  The Germans have a proverb:  Hochmut kommt vor dem Fall… pride comes before the fall (?) Well, we don’t know. maybe it’s just a rumor but it would be the height of silliness if it were true that Salman demanded one rupee more than Srk  to work in Aditya Chopra’s next. It’s funny but at the same time insulting.

Here we are again,  and what’s one rupee between good old frenemies?
This lingering animosity between the biggies of Bollywood is somewhat amusing for the spectator but it’s a loss for the industry. It would be such a great thing to see Srk, Salman, and let’s throw Aamir in the pot, ALL act together in a film. I hope one day they will  lay down their axes and surprise us with a joint venture!  It will be a superhit.  But they shouldn’t wait too long – cuz  we’ll be all grandpas and grandmas stumbling over our walking sticks.  On the bright side,  it might become a classic shown in nursing homes.
this is the better news on the Salman front:
Salman to play Lord Krishna in Akshay’s next movie….  “It is about an atheist (played by Akshay Kumar), who suffers losses due to an earthquake and files a case against God asking him to compensate him for the loss” – if That doesn’t sound fun….
I say, YES!  and maybe Akshay can write in a role for Shahrukh and then we clash the titans in the heavens and get it over with :-)
I love how Akshay gets along with EVERYONE!  Salman, Srk, Aamir… why can’t you be like Akki? ; – )

John Abraham injured on set. About the hazards of being a Bollywood star…

Our fearless Bollywood stars. Last week it was Vidya Balan, on the train tracks who escaped death,  now John got punched on the set of Shootout At Wadala (by mistake, wrongly timed punch)   hard on his precious nose, and don’t we love his nose, He was bleeding profusely, a doctor was called and he won’t resume shooting until March 9th. Not too long ago Abhishek Bachchan sustained an injury… if I recall it was his hand, no, his eye. His hand, that was another accident..(don’t have the time to google it).

Shahrukh is paying dearly for all his stunts of the past. He has been through so many crippling back injuries, surgeries… his doctors are in awe how he coped with all of it. Our Bollywood stars are No Sissies. They are THE REAL DEAL.  They walk the talk, ahem, the script. They do have stuntmen of course but from what I understand they do a lot of the risky stuff on their own. I am in awe!!  In Hollywood they got stuntmen who sit on the toilet in lieu of their actors, in Bollywood the stars dance on moving trains!!!

I can never forget how perplexed when I saw Dil Se for the first time and I kept rewinding to see if there was any special effect involved: No, there wasn’t!

and how can you not sing the praises of the whole group and camera crew… On Bollywood sets you truly live on the edge!

John Abraham nose punch:

Abhishek Bachchan on the set of Bol Bachchan

Vidya Balan’s brush with serious accident on the set of Kahaani

Srk accident on set of Don2:  (pay attention to “likes to do his own stunts…”)

and this is just the recent count, let’s not forget Koyla, the movie where Shahrukh almost got killed:

but the worst of all accidents in Bollywood’s history was Amitabh Bachchans injury of the set of Coolie, which almost cost him his life and has altered it forever.

There are so many examples of movie set heroism, near fatal accidents, I am bowing my head to our daredevil Bollywood actors! One more reason to love them…

No nanny for Aishwarya’s Beti B

I am taking off my hat to Aishwarya!  Not only is she a ravishing beauty but she is also a devoted mom.  With her baby born just his past November, crucially important bonds are formed during this time and the fact that Aishwarya opts to take care of the  baby herself endears her to me more than the professional work she has done.  Even though I miss her on screen and would love to see her back soon, I think it’s more important to know she if fully embracing motherhood and with all respect to Angelina Jolie, but to have 20 nannies and 20 kids makes a nice zoo but not necessarily a good home.
Having said that, rumors are swirling that her comeback will be at the side of none other than our beloved SRK  in Srirams Raghavan’s Happy Birthday... and that will be something else to look forward to in the future.
Shah Rukh and Aishwarya  had such a great chemistry, both,  as brother and sister in Mansoor Khan’s Josh and as doomed lovers in Sanjay Bhansali’s  Devdas, that I am totally looking fwd to their next collaboration.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan not hired nanny for Beti B

Amitabh Bachchan

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who gave birth to a baby girl on November 16, has reportedly not hired a nanny so far and she has personally been looking after her Beti B. Sources claim that the former Miss World is doing everything from changing the diapers to feeding her.

Sources close to the Bachchan family reveal that Aishwarya Rai spends all day with her daughter. She personally takes care of her without leaving the room even for a minute. Sources add that her family is offering to share her work, but Ash has politely refused to let anyone.

However, several Hollywood celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, Jessica Alba and Mariah Carey have spent thousands of dollars on nannies. Even Indian celebs like Maanyata Dutt and Farah Khan have hired nannies. One cannot stop asking why is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan not opting for one? The answer to this question is that she wants to enjoy motherhood thoroughly.

Who is sitting in the doghouse now?

(I had to revive this blog-entrance from trash after i got called out on it. ok so there)

When SRK says  he cannot tell his kids of the tender age 14 and 11 years old  “the whole story”  … and ” it’s difficult to explain to them”… that’s sending Shirish Kunder pretty much to the doghouse, I would say.   Woof woof.   Now we are ALL aware that  Shirish behaved inappropriately enough so we can’t explain to our kids either, which then seems to give credence to Miss Malini‘s ‘eye witness report‘ that had made the rounds. gossip-the-shah-rukh-khan-and-shirish-kunder-story-blow-by-blow

(I wonder how Miss Malini keeps up with everything that’s going on..)

The fact that SRK keeps his silence but hints that he wouldn’t be able to explain it to his kids is all for sudden the big white elephant in the room.  That’s what I call a verdict.

Oh,  I love Bollywood gossip.  Such drama.  Last year we had Romeo Shahid slinking out of Priyanka’s crib at five in the morning (don’t hold me to the dates and timeline). The year before we had Aamir  calling his dog Shahrukh, Remember that?   it escalated almost to a national crisis.. We had Salman crashing a party after things didn’t work out with his sweetheart Katrina.  And what about poor Ranbir Kapoor getting dissed by Sonam and Deepika? wasn’t that a juicy little scandal?

I don’t know how it feels to be the target of gossip, in my town we cultivate small potato gossip.  these stars, on the other hand, see their stories being printed in tabloids, with the whole nation watching and gasping. Every desi beauty parlor sizzles with hypotheses..  the sky is the limit of our  imagination!  The stars’ compounds are probably under siege as we speak… Paparazzis, insider spies, gossip is s a whole parallel  universe  in Bollywood, where movies are only one side of the coin and the stars lives the other.

From history we know that whoever sits in the doghouse of the public domain will sit there only for a limited amount of time.  Especially in India, redemption is always just around the corner and part of the life cycle,  masala the spice.

Accha accha, we got a new scandal. thik hai!!! It will keep us guessing at least two more weeks, what was that slap all about…  And while that’s being sorted out, we’ll make the doghouse nice and cozy for whoever needs to chill there for a while… :-)

The good news is, it’s already kinda old news.

Shah Rukh refuses to give his version of brawl with Kunder

Refusing to give his side of what happened during Sunday night’s fracas, Shah Rukh Khan today said he did not want to give “two versions” of the incident.

The 46-year-old actor made the comments on the margins of a function a day after the patch up with Shirish Kunder, husband of director Farah Khan. Kunder had accused SRK of slapping him at the party hosted by Sanjay Dutt.

“My children think of her as Farah aunty and it has been difficult for them to understand this whole issue. I do not want to give two versions of the incident. This is an entirely personal issue. “My children will get confused if they hear one thing from me inside the house and another thing in public. That is why I don’t comment on my personal life,” the actor said.

It is for the first time that SRK, who kept mum as the incident snowballed into a major controversy two days back, has spoken about it in public.

“It is very embarrassing for me to talk about this incident in front of my children. My son is 14 and girl is 11 and half years. It is difficult to explain it in the family,” he said.

Farah and Shah Rukh, whose friendship had soured few years ago, also sorted out their issues at the patch up meet initiated by director Sajid Khan.

“Farah is a very old friend. A lot about us has been written in the past two years. It has been very difficult for me to sit with that. It is nice to have friends back home. I am happy about it,” SRK said.

“Outsiders think that whatever people in Bollywood do is fun, even if it is personal,” he added.

and soon I’ll be sitting in the doghouse here…. :-)
