arre woh, Bachchanjis, how long does it take you to name ur baby?

Why should it be such a state secret? Aaradhya is personally perhaps not my favorite choice, but it beats  “nothing”…

Maybe astrologers warned them to reveal the name? it wouldn’t surprise me since half of India is running on astrologers council. the month must be right, the day, the letters, the stars luckily aligned for any kind of venture, birth, wedding..It’s all very confusing to a Western mind.

You don’t want to tell us your baby’s name? Fine.

I think we can live with that. But How about sending “us” and I mean  ALL OF US a box of sweets? I sincerely feel we deserve it. :-)

Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan’s baby name still a mystery!

Aishwarya and Abhishek and the pink sweet box sent to the media

After four months since the birth of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s daughter, the Bachchans sent a box of sweets to the media to share the joy of the birth of Beti B. However, the box did not mention the baby’s name, leading to another speculation that Beti B’s name might not be ‘Aaradhya’ as rumoured!

Though Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan along with the family have not acknowledged that the name of their daughter is Aaradhya Bachchan, Beti B is slowly being known as ‘Aaradhya’ among fans and media circles. A few weeks backs back, it was rumoured that Asihwarya and Abhishek had registered the name of their daughter as ‘Aaradhya.’

The box that the Bachchans sent to the media was pink in colour, designed in the shape of a side table. A pink ribbon was also tied to it. The Bachchans however did not mention the name of their child anywhere in the box. Now this is making the media wonder whether the baby’s name is indeed ‘Aaradhya.’ Either Aish and Abhi have still not named their daughter, or they wish to keep it between themselves!

PK’s 3 sages: Aamir Khan, Hirani, Chopra

I have to ask this:  What is a “comedy drama?” a comedry? a dramecom? will we cry, will we laugh…

and the other thing i wanted to know is why do all Bollywood stars venture into TV lately?

Aamir Khan teaming up again with Hirani and Chopra

Aamir Khan

Superstar Aamir Khan had earlier joined hands with Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra for the movie 3 Idiots, which became Blockbuster movie, besides setting several new records at the Box Office. Now, Bollywood actor is all set to team up again for a comedy drama, which has tentatively been titled film PK.

In a chat with PTI, Rajkumar Hirani has confirmed that the scripting of the film PK has already been done. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan has also admitted that he is joining hands with Hirani and Chopra for the film. He said that he has gone through the script and liked it. He added that he once again wants to play the role Raju, which he had reprised in 3 Idots.

“I would love to do Raju’s (Hirani) film. But I want him to make the announcement. The script is very good. Raju is a very good director and a very good human being. We have spoken about a film, but it is better if he announces it.” Aamir Khan had told PTI on the day of his birthday.

However, Aamir Khan has recently finished the shooting for director Reema Kagti’s psychological thriller Talaash. Currently, he is concentrating on the filming of his debut television show, which is to be aired on Star Plus in September. After completing the show, he is likely to take up the promotion of Talaash.

Walk of Stars inaugurated with Kareena Kapoor

I don’t know why, but this makes me happy.  You wonder why it is happening only now.  It will be a major tourist attraction, actually,  a desi shrine!!  Although, they should have maybe inaugurated it with Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, no? They will all join soon, I am sure. It will be a party every week :-)

Karan Johar, always trendsetter, always hip.

I’ve always had a weak spot for Karan Johar.  He is a gutsy filmmaker and producer. He’s invented the Not So Happy Ever After in the Indian rom-com department, now he introducing a first time woman director under his banner. Thank you, Karan.

We’ll have to watch out for Sonam Nair.

found this on IMDb on her:

Karan Johar set to launch a lady director

Tuesday, March 27, 2012, 14:43 [IST]

Producer Karan Johar is known for launching new and young talent through his banner Dharma Productions. A flashback will tell you that he has launched a total of 9 debutant directors under his banner. Starting from Nikhil Advani in Kal Ho Na Ho to Shakun Batra in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.

When approached for his comments, Karan said, “At Dharma, we have already introduced nine directors. We are extremely proud of their films. Taking the train of thought further, we plan to expand our production base and launch many more first time filmmakers in the immediate future.”

And thus they continue. This year Dharma Production is launching another young talent under its banner. For the first time, Dharma will give break to a lady director! Sonam Nair will make her directorial debut with a Dharma Productions movie. The title of the film is not final yet.

However, Karan Johar has officially announced the news and we think that this year is just going to get more exciting for Dharma Productions.

Bonjour Bollywood Belly Dance

Avant

Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai  from Khalnayak…

and Derriere

can never get enough of belly dance, Indian or other.  Indian is very elegant and refined because it mixes with classical dance. but maybe i am not in the position to judge. anybody here who can add to this post with knowledge or own favorites? :-)

Salman Khan, Jackie Chan and Kamal Hassan joining forces?

Whoever ropes in Jackie Chan for a Bollywood production will hit the jackpot and it will be finally a movie shown in US mainstream theaters so I welcome it with open arms.

and for the numerology fans out there: Aascar covers the whole nine yards between Oscar (prestigious) and Nascar (popular) – What could possibly go wrong there? :-)

quite an ambitious project. i wonder if multi-lingual means a movie shot in three languages, dubbed in three languages or mixing them happily all together?

Indians don’t like their movies dubbed. I figured that much out. But I think it would be beneficial in promoting Bollywood productions here in the US. Dub them and then show them on cable. I don’t understand why this isn’t happening already?

Salman Khan making history with Rs 300 crores movie?

With his back to back success in films like Dabangg, Bodyguard, Wanted, superstar Salman Khan is all set to make a history now. If reports are to be believed, Salman Khan was approached by producer Aascar Ravichandran to star in a multi-lingual epic opposite to Jackie Chan and Kamal Haasan.

Reportedly the film will be made in Hindi, Tamil and English with a whopping budget of Rs. 300 crores. Ravichandran informed a leading website, that he has been in talks with Jackie Chang about the film since last few years as the actor had earlier expressed his desire to star in a Bollywood film.

He further disclosed that the movie would have a different setup. If all goes well, this will turn out to be be the most expensive film in the history of Indian film industry.

RGV got out of bed on his left foot. Again.

I can’t help it but  i get the impression RGV  has a shot too much to drink kabhi kabhi, then gets the overwhelming desire to check out twitter…and the rest is history.  cuz the things he says at times….. tztzzz :-) either that or he really likes to provoke people. He is so fantastically gifted and makes great films but why does he have to say such nasty things? I wonder if he is just such an unhappy and bitter human being. Hey, RGV kya hua? got out of bed on your left foot today?

when you follow him on twitter he makes you laugh and cry at the same time…he’s so funny at times but some insult is always lurking around the corner.

Chill, RGV, play nice!

RGV insults SRK and his children

By: Bollywood Mantra Staff on 22nd March 2012

Ram Gopal Varma at Shiva - Press Conference

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma who is known for his daring statement has remarked badly about Shahrukh Khan and his children. Shahrukh who is known as a doting father in the industry has been targeted by Ram Gopal Varma. SRK’s love for Aryan and Suhana is known to all. Despite hectic schedule, he makes sure that he fulfills all the responsibility of a father.

SRK is a cool dad and his love for his kids is not hidden to anyone but RGV seems not happy with the superstar. Targeting SRK, he tweeted, “If all children are so innocent nd have beautiful hearts how come most of them grow up to become bastards?” RGV wrote this on twitter after Shahrukh posted, “Missing my lil boy and girl….they have such small lovely hands….and such large beautiful hearts (sic).”

This is not the first time that RGV has badly commented about any star. It has become his habit. If any film dismal badly at the box-office, he is sure to pass out humiliating remarks.

If one recall when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s pregnancy was declared, he remarked, ‘I hate beautiful woman getting pregnant’.

This time Ram Gopal Varma has targeted Shahrukh Khan’s kids and sure SRK will not leave the filmmaker at any cost. Let’s wait and see how SRK counter attack the filmmaker.

Agent Vinod aka Speedy Gonzalez

Agent Vinod aka Agent Speedy Gonzalez zooms so fast around the globe that if you looked on your watch to see how long this movie is going to be you lost track of two continents… I had to take a bathroom break so I missed another three and good part of the plot. If you thought Kahaani was moving you too fast through Calcutta, that was Kindergarten. They prepped us in Kahaani, I realized,  for the pace of this movie.

I regretted through the first half not sitting further in the back of the theater. I keep forgetting that this is preferred seating in the action movie genre. If you sit too close have advils handy.

Having said that, getting it out of my way, I liked our Vinod. He is different from the Bond characters, who are kissed by entitlement and different from the earthy type Matt Damons.

Agent Vinod is not a man you will fall in love with, easily,  he looks more like a well-trained Navy Seal who storms through the movie dressed like an office clerk. No big laughs in this BW action-thriller, with the exception of one come-on scene with a male stewardess and one where our Navy Seal pretends to be gay for the duration of a short taxi ride.

I loved the beginning of the movie, although it was an unapologetic combo of Spy Game and Once Upon A Time in the West, the famous scene with the harmonica. Not so effectively used here but evoking a sweet memory of Sergio Leone’s masterwork, a tribute of sorts.

So the movie starts somewhere in Afghanistan (or where was it) and then zigzags around the globe, the mission staying in the dark until the very end almost but numerical clues dropped throughout the first half of the movie, until you almost don’t care anymore what 242 means and the sound of it starts looking ridiculous. That’s when the mystery gets revealed.

But I am talking here as if I didn’t like the movie.  I did!  I thought it was elegantly done, very stylish,  with hints of film noir elements transcribed in color. Great action scenes. Fantastic locations. Saif pounces on his role with a meat hammer. He means business and has a short attention span. We never get to see him relaxed once. A man on the mission. That he shares with Western espionage figures but Saif makes his Vinod look very hardcore realistic and the unraveling plot supports it. It touches upon a raw nerve when we think of the scenario and we walk out of the movie theater slightly more concerned than we walked in.

Kareena looks hotter than ever with a little bit of flesh.. So hot indeed that when Saif  proposes to her we have to believe he means business this time around. But then, given what happens next to her character, snaps. Maybe not :-)

Supporting cast members were wonderfully chosen, I thought. Some great characters. then again, not so well developed because of the pace of the movie. Btw, outstanding performance by the camel. short but highly effective scene. We get a lot of memorable moments here and for that reason I would see the movie again.

Personally, I think they should have done more editing, cutting out more of the unessential, and one or two songs, that didn’t really contribute.

Altogether though, bravo, Sriram Raghavan, creating a wonderful legacy after Ek Hasina Thi and Johnny Gaddaar, this was a really good story. Well-told and well-acted.

Happy returns.

Homebody Akshay Kumar, or Mr. Excitement

Sounds like an exciting marriage hehe.  They got just one child, right? :-)  going to sleep at eight in the evening….  no parties. music  too loud… Akki has certainly turned mildly middle-aged under our watch.
*
But they do look well-rested,  these two.
*
I guess their son listens to music on headphones.  He watches his parents and thinks, nahi, I don’t WANNA BE in movies.  too boring of a life. I think I might want to be an astronaut, a race car driver. Maybe I want to be a fire-man, working in a fire house is more fun than being a movie star…

I don’t want my son in films – Akshay Kumar

akshay kumar twinkle with son 200x284 Actor-producer Akshay Kumar, who spends quality time with his 10-year-old son Aarav despite his busy schedule, says that he wants to keep him away from films.

“He is too young. I want my son to be away from films. I want him to enjoy childhood. I want him to go and play football. Go on the beach and enjoy life,” Akshay told IANS.

The Bollywood star also revealed that he leads a disciplined life and doesn’t bend his rules regardless of his hectic shooting schedule.

“I don’t enjoy partying. I don’t understand why they play music so loud. I like to sleep early. I go off to sleep by 9 to 9.30. I get up by 4.30 in the morning,” the 44-year-old said.

“Twinkle sleeps by 8.45 in the night and thank god this is the only similarity that I and Twinkle share. Life becomes very calm when your partner sleeps at the same time. We share this one thing in common,” he said.
