Teri Meri Kahaani

Teri Meri Kahaani didn’t live up to my promise, I am afraid. But if you enjoy the old Hillary Duff flicks, then you will like this one…

It had its redeeming qualities.  Some of the songs are really catchy. Great sets and locations. Shahid and Priyanka always nice to watch, even though I take points of for Shahid’s stylist. 60s and 2012 haircuts sucked. It seems that only in Lahore in 1910 they knew what looks good on our glorious hunk Shahid.  the haircut didn’t seem to deter the female attendance. Our Bombay Theater in Queens was packed to the rim!!

Maybe I have just outgrown the phase in life where I think legions of LOLs and smiley faces and dull one liners in twitterverse are fun to watch when bleeped onto the movie screen. If that’s what our era will leave as a legacy we’re doomed.

This movie shines being mostly dialogue-free. I mean who needs dialogue anyways? so overrated in a romcom….

Also, I thought in the first part where the jodi meets on the train the director decided it should have elements of a silent movie, so you thought Charlie Chaplin or the Marx Brothers are about to jump out on the screen…

Teri Meri Kahaani was highly uneven throughout. It had some nice elements but it felt patchworked, laboured. Silly. Sound editing was horrible. It had some major flaws. but I will also admit that I had a good time watching it. Nothing in life is perfect. So what if this movie had its flaws, it was still very entertaining.

Kunal Kohli shows great promise as a director and I am very hopeful that his next movies will be more polished as he is gaining more experience.

in Teri Meri Kahani. Release date: June 22nd

Do we wonder what their real life relationship is all about? I always worry that I will wonder…. because it makes me feel being part of the gossip machinery.

which I am.

Shahid and his pretty stalker

Shahid and his beautiful stalker

So we hear that our filmi heartthrob Shahid has filed a complaint against Raj Kumar’s daughter Vastavikta Pandit.

Shahid Kapoor has accused her of stalking him. Just like in a good Bollywood movie, the beautiful Vastavikta was smitten with her Shahid since she laid eyes on him at Shiamak Davar’s jazz classes which they both seemed to have attended. It must have been love at first sight on her part, and who can blame her? He is gorgeous.

From what we hear, Vastavikta, apparently after moving nearby his home about nine months ago, started standing at the gate of his building when he leaves for shoots and waits for him when he comes back. (bit like Haatchi, the loyal dog, who awaited his master at the train station every day and continued to do so for years after his owner’s death).  She followed Shahid in her car, she even climbed the walls to get to his apartment… dodging security guards. (Reminds me a lot of Socha Na Tha…) Yup, it’s a bit extreme this infatuation. But it’s still very human :-)

Now Vastavikta is a very pretty girl. she holds a degree from S.I.T in Manhattan. You would think she has everything going for herself, except for the man there she fell in love with and so desperately wants that she forgets all her good manners. He should be flattered, maybe. He should have tried talking to her maybe and explain that he has no interest whatsoever instead of filing a police report.

Very few things in life hurt as much as unrequited love. This woman, she is desperate but not a mental case. Filing a police report seems to be a bit drastic. Why ruin her life like that? He talked to her family apparently but never to her. I guess stardom makes you a tad paranoid. She doesn’t appear to be a monster. She has just hopelessly fallen for the wrong guy. But she is still a person, a woman, not some stray dog nor a terrorist whom he has to fend off with the help of police. at least, that’s how I see it.

Now in a Bollywood movie thisscenario would lead probably  to a shaadi, because the person who loves so intensely without boundaries usually gets rewarded with the price. Helas, not so in real life. Not so in real life.

In real life unrequited love is something most of us had to deal with and live with it  at one time or the other. It’s a pretty common phenomenon.Somebody who gets smitten with you and will start calling you day and night. We feel stalked but we usually talk it through. We might follow ex lovers on FB, stalking them there… We do all kind of stupid things when we are in love..

Shahid is a big star, so when you fall for a star in this manner you probably delude yourself that if he  would just get to know you, if you just would have a chance to talk to him he will turn around. Afterall, there are cases of that recorded in history. Movie stars have fallen for cocktail waitresses and sometimes even married them, happened to Kevin Costner, to George Clooney and god knows.. Prince they say got married to a fan of his.. Arthur Rubinstein, the famous pianist got married late in life to a much younger fan…divorcing in his 70s from his wife. We hear this kind of stories. But this is not what is happening here.

Vastavikta , daughter of the legendary actor Late Mr. Raj Kumar, made her filmi debut in 2006 in Karan Razdan’s ‘Eight Shani’. I haven’t seen the movie, I don’t know how good she is, but apparently instead of applying herself to get more acting gigs she dipped into a day dream fog, imagining herself as Mrs Shahid Kapoor.  Somehow that’s so sad and I wish her good luck in her life. Hopefully she will leave this infatuation  behind her now and hopefully her life won’t be too damaged by this scandal. I feel for her.

“Teri Meri Kahaani” reunites Shahid and Priyanka

Shahid and Priyanka made a great screen couple in Kaminey and their filmi reunion is something to look forward to.

Kunal Kohli talks with enthusiasm about his new movie, which he wrote directs and produces but it’s still to be seen if Teri Meri Kahaani can measure up to  Kaminey and  the innovative cinema of Vishal Bhardwaj.

From what Kohli says,  this film will be about soul mates and about what looks like reincarnation..

kya hua,  a deja vu?

I am on cloud nine :-)

Anyways, will be nice to see Shahid and Priyanka together again. When Shahid was caught slinking out of Pri’s chambers early in the morning, remember that?  I bet they were just reading lines. they were only REHEARSING!! :-)  now we know.  all the excitement over  koi bat nahi…

Shahid-Priyanka chemistry in ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’ better than ‘Kaminey’

Teri Meri Kahaani1 200x133 Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra will be next seen together in Kunal Kohli’s “Teri Meri Kahaani” and the filmmaker says that their onscreen chemistry will be far better than it was in “Kaminey”.

“In ‘Kaminey’, the characters Sweety and Guddu were good friends and they were together for only eight scenes. However, the chemistry of Priyanka and Shahid in my film is much more than that. They will be sizzling and will be seen together in 78 scenes,” Kohli said in a statement.

“Kaminey”, one of the big hits of 2009, revolved around gangsters, politicians and cops. This was Shahid and Priyanka’s first film together and people gave thumbs up to their on-screen chemistry.

Kohli’s “Teri Meri…” is based on a story from 1910 to 2012 and will span three decades separately. The film will hit theatres June 22.

Denying the reports that the film is a love story, Kohli said: “My film is not a love story. It’s the story of three different lives and proves that love is a promise forever. We have chosen one hundred years to talk about love. We didn’t want it to be soppy or melodramatic.

“Love, according to me, makes you smile. Since I grew up watching films by Yash Chopra, who is my idol, I wanted my hero and heroine holding hands, looking back and singing in the rain. The film is about soulmates who live forever,” he said. – IANS

Once Upon a Time in Mumbai 2

In general, I don’t like sequels and  to my great dismay  they have been FLOODING Bollywood and Hollywood alike.

The Krrrishs, the Dhooms, the Golmaals, and the Dons are progressing to #3,  Dostana2  (in the making) …  Murder 2.  And I could go on.  It’s tiring just to list them haha.   And now there will be Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2.

But this one I am anticipating it with greater enthusiasm because A)  it promises to be different and Milan Luthria did an outstanding job with the first one. B) it’s got Akshay Kumar, who I want to come back with a mighty BANG plus sabse khubsurat Shahid Kapoor  and C) I shouldn’t be so negative  considering I liked  the biblical Godfather 2 better than 1. So there is always hope to fall in love with a sequel.

If you haven’t seen OUIM then go and rent it or buy it.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 will be flamboyant, says Luthria

Director Milan Luthria says his much-anticipated sequel Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 will not follow any “gangster movie trend” as in his film the focus will be on flamboyance, drama and music.

“As far as gangster trends are concerned, I think we stand apart as our take on gangsters is very different. It’s more of a flamboyance, drama, music and dialogues. So it’s a different space and thankfully we are the only ones in that space,” Milan said here at an awards function.

The year began with hit gangster film Agneepath, and it will be followed by Zilla Ghaziabad and Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur.

Produced by Balaji Telefilms, the cast of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 so far includes Akshay Kumar, who will play underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Shahid Kapoor as Chhota Rajan.

Luthria says some more interesting names will join the cast.

“We are putting it together carefully. Some interesting casting is to happen, but we are taking our time. It’s a big film, an eagerly-anticipated sequel. Akshay is also as excited as all of us. (Composer) Pritam has started work. In a few weeks from now, we will be making all our final announcements.”

The director is currently basking in the success of The Dirty Picture.
