Akshay turns vegetarian :-) Oh My God, is that true?

Yes, at least for the time filming OMG,  cuz he is afraid Lord Krishna will come down hard on him if he doesn’t.

Meanwhile he has released a poster riding through the sky on a Harley Davidson which Lord Krishna has definitely given his blessing for… (don’t know bikes too well but that’s what it looks like) – that, Iam sure would be his favorite mode of transportation if he were born today…. :-)

I think it’s a nice gesture on part of Akki to turn vegetarian. It’s so easy in India to be a vegetarian. OMG, there are so many delicious dishes to taste, you practically never would have to eat the same meal twice in your entire life time!  I would love to move to India for that reason alone!!

The film stars Akki as Lord Krishna  and Paresh Rawal as the challenger of fate.

The movie is based on Umesh Shukla’s Gujarati play Kanji Viruddh. All kind of miraculous things seem to be happening in an ordinary man’s life. The movie is directed by newcomer Ashwini Yardi and is expected to be released in late September.

Can’t wait to see Akshay and Paresh battling it out. But wait a minute…. they are also bound to appear together in Khiladi 786… they are filming right now. Exciting.

Rowdy Rathore or Purring Pussy Cat?

Rowdy Rathore or Purring Pussy Cat?

what’s the verdict going to be at the Box Office for this new cinematic venture? :-)

Since Akki has an established fan base, especially when it comes to action movies, people will come to see it but my gut feeling is, after watching the trailer and some of the songs,  that it might sizzle out in single screen theaters.  I hope I am wrong because I desperately want my Akshay Kumar back in high demand.

Shiva (Akshay Kumar) is a small time conman in love with Priya (Sonakshi Sinha), a pretty girl whom he met at a wedding he wasn’t invited to. Into this picture perfect world enters six year old Neha who inexplicably believes Shiva to be her dad! And if this wasn’t bad enough, Shiva also becomes the object of a series of life threatening attacks by a gang of deadly criminals who seem to know something he doesn’t. While trying desperately to save his life and love, Shiva stumbles upon a deadly secret. A secret that will take him to a small town in Bihar; a town terrorized by a ruthless politician and the mafia he controls; a town whose inhabitants only hope for redemption is …

This movie is considered Akshay’s comeback vehicle into the genre of action movies. As much as I love Akshay in action movies, I somehow worry about this one. It gives off some 80s  vibes, none of the songs I have listened to makes me want to listen to them again.  And I can’t figure out if this is going to be a comedy or an action movie. A parody of an action movie or the real thing. But hey, why bury it before its release? It could be a surprise hit! I wish it for him and the rest of the crew!

We shall see. Meanwhile I am happy to have Akshay back in action. I just love watching him, he can bring to life mummies with his killer smile.

I loved him in Desi Boyz and that was a great comeback for him already.

Just keep the man working, Bollywood! :-) We love the guy.

Housefull 2

played to a housefull of Bollywood fans here at Bombay Theater in NY.  The movie was sold out in no time, a rarity these days. Akshay and John are box office gold..

They are a mega-winning couple. I had low to no expectations reading all these lukewarm reviews but I was positively surprised. Housefull 2 is  being treated way too unkindly in the press. Sajid Khan has the last laugh because this movie is going to make a lot of money. People like the light-hearted crying-out ridiculous. It’s fun.

Housefull 2 is a goofball comedy all right, a bit like Bringing Up Baby, or the comedies of the 30s and 40s with their typical identity reversals and screwy twists. Love’s dilemmas, comedy and conflicts are symmetrically distributed among two or three couples. The concept is even older than that. You find it already in Mozart’s operas.

Housefull 2 is wildly entertaining, well-choreographed and directed. Great supporting cast with Rishi Kapoor, Boman Irani and Mithun Chakraborty, Randhir Kapoor. Jonny Lever at his usual best. Riteish Deshmuk is mellowing out nicely and sensibly. The female protagonists were just ok, Asin shining a bit brighter than the others .

But Akki and John are the bomb together and I can’t understand why Akshay would be saying he wants to move away from comedy. He’s soooooo good at it!!!

Comparing the two, I liked it better than Housefull 1.

John Abraham and Akshay Kumar on near-collision course..

not to worry, saved by the body-guards in the nick of time.

Outch. Our Bollywood hunks use too much “protein” powder for their workouts. Seems to get into their heads… haha. Either that or it helps the publicity for Housefull 2….Hm hm..something is stuck in my throat.

Ok, let’s play the game? Who was hotter in Desi Boyz? Does it really matter? They were GREAT together in Garam Masala and they were great TOGETHER in Desi Boyz. And that’s all that they need to know.

Of course the female viewers here would not mind to witness a BigCat fight, just to see how well  all these muscles work in real life…

But then of course we hope they will make up over a case of beer.

Betcha, in thirty years they will sit together in those gigantic arm chairs and laugh about it, play the old movies and congratulate each other how hot they looked once upon a time…

Come on! do these two look to you as if they could be seriously fighting?

Meanwhile, I am looking fwd to ultra loud and wild Housefull 2, opening April 6th!

Akshay Kumar, John Abraham in a brawl

Close on the heels of a much public spat between actors Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Shirish Kunder, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham almost came to blows on Friday at their film’s screening.  Caught on camera by our photographer who was late in leaving the venue after the screening of their upcoming film Housefull 2 at a theatre in Mumbai, the actors got into a heated argument that soon escalated into what seemed like a physical fight. While most guests had left by then, the few eyewitnesses revealed that the altercation got to a point where the actors’ bodyguards had to intervene. The private screening of the film, meant for close friends, and family, apparently ignited a debate about who was behind the success of their last hit Desi Boyz (2011), which fared well at the box-office. “Someone made a joke comparing the two, and what started as a harmless banter suddenly got serious. Back in the day there were some rumours of rivalry between the two even during their film Garam Masala (2005); so that could have made matters worse. Both of them are known to be hot headed anyway,” said a crew member of Housefull’s production team, requesting anonymity.

Ironically, the two  have maintained a cordial relationship in the press as there have been regular reports about Akshay’s son, Aarav, being a big fan of John. The actors who got miffed at spotting our shutterbug clicking pictures, refused to respond to our messages. ‘Everything’s well. It was just a silly argument that’s sorted,” explained the film’s spokesperson later.

Homebody Akshay Kumar, or Mr. Excitement

Sounds like an exciting marriage hehe.  They got just one child, right? :-)  going to sleep at eight in the evening….  no parties. music  too loud… Akki has certainly turned mildly middle-aged under our watch.
*
But they do look well-rested,  these two.
*
I guess their son listens to music on headphones.  He watches his parents and thinks, nahi, I don’t WANNA BE in movies.  too boring of a life. I think I might want to be an astronaut, a race car driver. Maybe I want to be a fire-man, working in a fire house is more fun than being a movie star…

I don’t want my son in films – Akshay Kumar

akshay kumar twinkle with son 200x284 Actor-producer Akshay Kumar, who spends quality time with his 10-year-old son Aarav despite his busy schedule, says that he wants to keep him away from films.

“He is too young. I want my son to be away from films. I want him to enjoy childhood. I want him to go and play football. Go on the beach and enjoy life,” Akshay told IANS.

The Bollywood star also revealed that he leads a disciplined life and doesn’t bend his rules regardless of his hectic shooting schedule.

“I don’t enjoy partying. I don’t understand why they play music so loud. I like to sleep early. I go off to sleep by 9 to 9.30. I get up by 4.30 in the morning,” the 44-year-old said.

“Twinkle sleeps by 8.45 in the night and thank god this is the only similarity that I and Twinkle share. Life becomes very calm when your partner sleeps at the same time. We share this one thing in common,” he said.

Akshay’s first release this year is “Housefull 2″, which is releasing April 5. – IANS

Silly Sallu

A rupee is not what is used to be.  Or is it?

Oh please, guys, give us a break! :-)  The Germans have a proverb:  Hochmut kommt vor dem Fall… pride comes before the fall (?) Well, we don’t know. maybe it’s just a rumor but it would be the height of silliness if it were true that Salman demanded one rupee more than Srk  to work in Aditya Chopra’s next. It’s funny but at the same time insulting.

Here we are again,  and what’s one rupee between good old frenemies?

This lingering animosity between the biggies of Bollywood is somewhat amusing for the spectator but it’s a loss for the industry. It would be such a great thing to see Srk, Salman, and let’s throw Aamir in the pot, ALL act together in a film. I hope one day they will  lay down their axes and surprise us with a joint venture!  It will be a superhit.  But they shouldn’t wait too long – cuz  we’ll be all grandpas and grandmas stumbling over our walking sticks.  On the bright side,  it might become a classic shown in nursing homes.

this is the better news on the Salman front:
Article1-823747.aspx
Salman to play Lord Krishna in Akshay’s next movie….  “It is about an atheist (played by Akshay Kumar), who suffers losses due to an earthquake and files a case against God asking him to compensate him for the loss” – if That doesn’t sound fun….
I say, YES!  and maybe Akshay can write in a role for Shahrukh and then we clash the titans in the heavens and get it over with :-)
I love how Akshay gets along with EVERYONE!  Salman, Srk, Aamir… why can’t you be like Akki? ; – )

Party like a Punjabi

Akshay Kumar – Chitrangda: after Desi Boyz back to the drawing board

In Desi Boyz,  Akshay Kumar and Chitrangda put the screen on fire.  The best thing of course was watching Akki and John Abraham team up  again after the hilarious Garam Masala in 2005.  Rohit Dhawan‘s entertaining directorial debut Desi Boyz had a few flaws, a few bumps on the road but on the overall it was a fun watch.   Akki and Chitrangda were the icing on the cake.  They had great chemistry, so any future collaboration is WELCOME!

Chitrangda – Akshay Kumar In Rohit Dhawan’s Next?

Akshay Chitrangada
MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar, a self-confessed Smita Patil fan, is very impressed by  the new-age Smita, aka Chitrangda. Chitrangda is “under serious consideration” with Vipul Shah and Nikhil Advani. She  has apparently been finalized for Rohit Dhawan’s next film with Akshay again.Says a source, “The chemistry between Akshay and Chitrangda is incredible in Desi Boyz. As soon as Rohit saw the rushes of Desi Boyz he made up his mind to cast the pair in his next which would take him, and the pair, into another zone altogether.”Akshay’s interest in Chitrangda is intensely professional.Says a source, “Akshay’s pairing with Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif ran their course after a strong of blockbusters. He feels Chitrangda  could be the Next Best Co-star in his career.”

In the coming months there are bound to me some announcements of films featuring Akshay with Chitrangda.

When asked about her pairing with Akshay, Chitrangda enthused, “Oh, he has been very helpful. There have been times when I have been kind of lost in the commercial language. Akshay was right there to show me the way out.I am looking forward to a lot more films with him.”

” Akshay’s interest in Chitrangda is intensely professional.”
THAT’S CUTE.  We certainly hope it’s purely professional,  for the sake of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star….  We will concede perhaps a slight infatuation, that is of course, only with Twinkle’s approval.

Housefull 2

I don’t know about you guys, but I’ll be going to the first show and I can’t believe I will  have to wait until April!  the 5th to be exact.  It looks like it’s going to be a full-a-fun ride.   From Sajid Khan,  the director of Heyy Baby (or was it Hey Babyy?  I can never  remember these astrologer-induced spelling horreurs). Anyways, this movie has a starcast with Akki, John Abraham, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez  (this is going to complete her #2 trilogy, after Race2 and Murder2 now Housefull2 . Lucky sign? what do the astrologers have to say?)

it also comes with a great and familiar supporting cast, among others Riteish Deshmukh,Zarine Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Boman Irani, Mithun Chakraborty, who should get credit to have been in every other Bollywood movie since induction,  Rani Mukerji as an item number, the indescribable Johny Lever, and long time no see Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, whose name reminds me of flowers and spices and who did I forget? so… where was I?  oh okay. have to go to work.

Sonakshi Sinha puts the S in _exy

It’s not  the first time that Salman Khan catapulted an aspiring actress  to  fame.  He is really good at that.  He has the eye for talent. It didn’t surprise us at all that he discovered the adorable Sonakshi Sinha, giving her a major breakthrough role.

Since I started watching Bollywood movies  Salman has been launching  Aishwarya, Katrina Kaif and Asin;  helping them out often in tumultuous but effective ways they became the hottest actresses in Bollyland.  Dabangg created another diamond:  Sonakshi.

With Dabangg,  Salman and Sonakshi created blockbuster magic in 2010.  Her  debut alone generated a Big Bangg!  Since then Sonakshi has signed up for six different movies. Rowdy Rathore and  Joker, both with Akshay KumarLootera with Ranvir Singh;   Son of Sardar with Ajay DevganDabangg2  and Kick, both with Salman again!  So we’ll be seeing quite a bit of her.
